Spruce shafts 5/16 make for a brilliant wood when making arrows, being low weight it makes for a first choice with many archers and is very popular in Europe. Well known for their high strength to weight ratio, the combination makes for higher arrow speed especially on longer distances compared to the heavier *cedar and pine shafts. (*10% heavier in some cases).
Carefully hand selected from best quality European Spruce. The shafts have a good quality finish, with a length of 32” and spined in 5lb increments. They are ideal for all forms of archery and cover a wide range of bow types and poundage’s at the lower draw ranges.
- 5/16” diameter.
- 32″ length.
- 20/25 – 40/45 (on rare occasion 45+ please ask).
- Within 30 grains.
- Sold by the dozen.
*13/02/26 = 35/40 temporarily out of stock whilst we wait on a fresh batch, lots of pine in however.
Official word from the suppliers: Demand for spruce shafts has increased considerably worldwide, plus a range of environmental factors in how trees grow and are then processed means we have these on a constant restock in an effort to keep up with demand.

I bought 2 dozen of these shafts, it was obvious to me that a lot of care had been taken with the grading and weight matching. I have made up 14 arrows which are all coming out around 432grn, the shafts are straight and a few of them that have buried themselves into butt braces and trees and have stood up well. I use the same arrows, full length in both of my bows (35lb take down and a 45lb AFB), they fly well with 4 inch fletchings..I shall buy more when I need them.
Hi, We spoke Friday, hopefully 30-32 spine. Many thanks!!
Well aware that most places do not do this, entertain customers requests/visits or charge £. We will put aside this task for a morning of undisturbed sorting asap.
Really excellent service, not only were the spines as requested, but the weights were within 10gn.
Couldn’t ask for better!
Quick delivery too 🙂
We try 🙂 With a couple hundred raw shafts (bought as xx/xx but do we Hell believe that) to test it was a matter of slogging through the process qty-50 at a time putting aside the most likely candidates until we reached zero or a tight group.
What spine strength for a 50lb Mongolian Horse bow
With a 30″ draw?
