Horn Sheet – Ox

Description

Ox Horn sheet which are specially taken down for us to 2 mm thick, the same size as the popular and commonly available Buffalo Horn Slice. The horn sheets are individually cut, so size varies marginally, on average they are a 6 cm wide x 16 cm long workable piece. Sold individually so you can choose as many as you need for your project.

The sheets have numerous craft uses, and can be easily cut down into ‘slices’ that are used to re-enforce self cut nocks on Medieval style arrows, or to make attractive ‘arrow passes’ when polished. Remember horn has a grain and you will have to cut and insert your slice with the grain against not following the slot you have so lovingly cut into your shaft.

Colours can vary from piece to piece making for an attractive and unique sheaf of arrows. Lighter pieces can be almost translucent as in the example photos. Darker material often has a grey and brown variegated appearance.
