Description
This carving is known as The Ely Knight, it depicts a Knight seemingly at his ease or posing. He is wearing a Great Helm, in one arm he proudly holds his shield, whilst leaning on a huge axe, you can also see his sheathed sword at his side. It could be presumed that this is a famous knight of Ely that the city owes a great deal to his service and skill at arms.
Taken directly from the Medieval (1350) carving found upon the highly decorated Misericords within the choir stalls at Ely Cathedral, and replicates all the fine detail and work done by the craftsmen that carved this great piece centuries ago. Designed to be displayed upon a wall this cast resin copy of the original makes a magnificent focal point.
